Feeding & Swallowing Therapy

Feeding and Swallowing Therapy is a specialised approach to help children overcome challenges with eating, drinking, and oral function. This therapy addresses underlying oral-motor, sensory, and behavioural factors that may limit a child’s ability to feed comfortably, safely, and effectively.
Feeding & Swallowing Therapy can support:
-
Picky eating: Limited food variety, food refusal, difficulty chewing, or struggling to progress to age-appropriate textures
-
Oral-motor challenges: Weak tongue, lip, or jaw coordination that makes chewing and swallowing inefficient or uncomfortable
-
Swallowing safety: Coughing, gagging, choking, or concerns about food or liquid entering the airway (aspiration)
-
Sensory challenges: Avoidance of certain textures, temperatures, tastes, or smells, leading to food aversions
-
Mealtime stress: Behavioural struggles, anxiety around meals, or power struggles that make mealtimes difficult for the entire family
