Baby's Feet

At Raising Good Eaters, my approach is centered on preventative care—helping babies and toddlers develop strong feeding, oral function, and whole-body regulation from the start. Instead of waiting for challenges to arise, proactive check-ins at key milestones can help support smooth transitions, minimise feeding struggles, and promote healthy development.

Craniosacral Therapy (CST) and feeding consultations are not just for babies with existing issues—they are tools to optimise oral function, airway health, and posture as your child grows. Just like regular paediatric visits and dental check-ups, these gentle, supportive sessions guide your child’s development, helping to prevent concerns before they become more difficult to address.

The table below outlines the recommended schedule for feeding consultations and CST check-ins from birth through early childhood. Each session is designed to align with developmental changes, ensuring your baby continues to progress in feeding, chewing, swallowing, speech, and overall well-being.

Start strong. Preparing for feeding before birth can make all the difference. Learning how to breastfeed, pump, or bottle-feed before baby arrives reduces stress and helps prevent early feeding challenges.

Set up for success. The newborn stage is a major transition. A feeding check-in can support latch, milk transfer, and bottle-feeding, while Craniosacral Therapy (CST) helps release birth tension that may affect feeding, digestion, and sleep.

Birth is a big adjustment. Some babies struggle with reflux, colic, or unsettled feeding in the first month. CST can help relieve tension from birth, improving comfort and helping baby feed and rest more easily.

Around this age, baby becomes more active and starts using their tongue and jaw in new ways. CST can support postural control, tongue movement, and oral-motor function, making upcoming transitions like teething and solids easier.

Baby will soon start solids! This visit helps parents know what foods to introduce first, how to serve them safely, and how to support chewing and swallowing development from the start.

A feeding check-in ensures baby is progressing well with chewing, swallowing, and transitioning to solids. CST can support jaw coordination, tongue movement, and airway function.

A feeding check-in as baby becomes more independent with eating and builds chewing skills. CST at this stage can support oral-motor coordination, airway function, and postural control, as they become more mobile.

As baby nears toddlerhood, they are transitioning to family meals and more independent eating. A feeding check-in at this stage can support appetite regulation and help address any food refusal or texture struggles early.

Walking and talking put new demands on posture and breathing. CST at this stage supports jaw growth, airway health, and postural stability, ensuring feeding, breathing, and speech all develop smoothly.

A final feeding check-in ensures baby is fully transitioned to table foods, self-feeding, and developing healthy eating habits moving into toddlerhood. Feeding follow-up are as needed thereafter.

As speech and chewing become more refined, a CST visit supports tongue posture, airway growth, and jaw function to promote clear speech and efficient eating. Prevention is better than cure.

Toddler independence is in full swing! A CST visit at this stage helps with muscle coordination, airway development, and early dental growth as speech and eating skills continue to develop.

Growth continues through childhood. Annual CST visits help maintain airway health, proper tongue posture, and muscle balance, ensuring smooth transitions in feeding, breathing, and speech.
